It's Fun to Know: Why You Should Be Swearing at Work

A study by the U.K.-based Leadership and Organization Development Journal has found that so-called "social swearing" can boost workers' morale and productivity. The researchers claim that mild profanity, as opposed to hardcore vulgarity, appears to function as a stress reliever. And that casual off-color remarks and good-humored insults, such as one might hear among friends, create solidarity.

Because swearing appears to be of some benefit in the workplace (who knew?), the researchers say that managers should not ban it. However, they do recommend keeping on eye on anyone who abuses the "privilege."

"Hell, yeah!" we say.
