The Gear and Equipment I used
A list of what I had on the trip. Keep in mind this was all in the van with me!
- Video Cameras
- Canon GL1, 3CCD Digital video (MiniDV tapes)
- Canon Optura, older 1 CCD Digital video (MiniDV tapes)
- Sony Digital 8 Handycam - Backup, got used for the driving video
- Sony 8mm Handy - Backup backup, just in case!
- Various accessories for the above 4 video cameras, including:
- A modified Anton Bauer Gold Mount, for powering the GL1
- Multiple sets of batteries for all the video cameras
- Battery Chargers and AC Adapters for all the video cameras
- 12 Volt DC adapters for the Sony cameras, for use while driving
- I also have made adapters to use RC Car battery packs for the Sony cameras, which work very well!
- Some normal (cheap) tripods
- Canon D30 Digital SLR - Sadly, this camera died on the way there!
- 550EX and 420EX Flash for Canon EOS
- Lots of batteries, chargers, and media cards for the camera and flash
- Wireless (RF) shutter release, range over 100 ft.

- Running Windows 2000, 128 MB Ram, 2 swapable hard drives (12 MB and 60 MB)
- GPS Receiver and Microsoft Streets 2005 for moving map display
- Firewire card, and WinDV for timelapse video capture
- Audacity sound recording software, for voice memos while driving, using a Labtec headset mic
- WinAMP software for tunes, sound was routed to my stereo amp, to the main speakers in the van
- WiFi Wireless network adapter(USB)
- Could run either 12 volt DC or 110 volt AC
- Pentium 3 550 in a rack case
- Running Windows 2000, 384 MB Ram, 80 GB Drive
- 2 DVD Burners (Pioneer DVR-106D) and Nero version 6 for duplicating DVDs
